KERALA
FINANCIAL CORPORATION AND
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
KFC has done a yeoman service in building micro, small and medium
industries in the State of Kerala with a financial assistance
of more than Rs.3,000 Crores to 40,000 units since inception.
Now we are stepping out from our traditional operational area
to the vast arena of corporate social responsibility. We have
realized that apart from bringing in progress, prosperity and
consequent employment generation through financing the units,
corporate social responsibility will take care of the marginalized
segment society. With this vision we have formed KFC-CARE –
(Kerala Financial Corporation – Centre for Assistance
and Rehabilitation) a Corporate Social Responsibility Cell on
14th November, 2007 which was duly inaugurated by Dr. T.M. Thomas
Issac, the Hon. Finance Minister of Kerala at a spectacular
ceremony organized at Kanakakkunnu Palace, Thiruvananthapuram
The
first venture of KFC-CARE was to help the mentally challenged
children of Bala Vikas, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram by providing
them required machinery and training for the manufacture of
office files, paper carry bags etc. For this purpose, we have
provided required machinery and the products manufactured by
them will be purchased by the Corporation for its own use. This
maiden act of Corporate Social Responsibility Cell on the Children’s
Day was launched by Smt. Sreemathy Teacher, Hon. Minister for
Health. We have also supported 7 orphan girls for continuing
their higher education after +2 through a scholarship floated
by the All India Management Association. These nominees were
selected by the Government of Kerala at our request.
The
launching of the Corporate Social Responsibility Cell (KFC-CARE)
is the first act of social responsibility commitment being undertaken
by any SFCs in India and any public sector undertakings in Kerala.
This reflects our social commitment and concern for the society.
This act is a social face lift for this organization.
